Firm History

Stephen Mockbee, President and Founder of Patriot Government Services, Inc. (PGSI), is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and comes from a long line of servicemen. His Father was a decorated WWII veteran who stormed the beach at Normandy, receiving two bronze stars for this service. He also has two uncles who fought in the Korean War, only one of which returned.

Stephen Mockbee answered the call from his country and voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to serve the county his loves so much during a difficult time in its history. In February of 1966, Mockbee was sent to Paris Island for training, then assigned to Camp Pendleton, California where he quickly rose through the ranks as a Field Wireman/Communications Expert, earning Corporal status in just six short months. He remained in California until September of 1967 when he volunteered to be sent to Vietnam.

October 7, 1967 marked Stephen Mockbee’s first day in Vietnam, as a member of the 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. His time in Vietnam was spent in the DMZ. He was responsible for establishing communication throughout the area, during the Tet offensive of 1968 and other notable times in the War. His time was cut short due to an injury on August 8, 1968 in an area near Kaghun, CaLu. He was honorably discharged in December of 1968 as a disabled Veteran with a Navy Achievement Medal for his 5 major combat missions.

The GI Bill, partnered with his disability, allowed him a full scholarship to the University of Delaware, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1973.

Stephen has worked and served in the construction industry since 1975. His commitment to his country prompted him to create PGSI in 2008. This is a new company devoted solely to the construction needs of the United States Government and its subordinate entities.
